LANDMARKS IN HISTORY

These documents from British history helped establish the idea of equality and the rule of law which changed the world for the better of all mankind.

First there was the Charter of Liberties which sought to hold the Monarch to the Laws protecting Nobles and Church officials this was later extended in the Magna Carta which also forced the Monarch to accept the rights of 'Freemen' to be tried and punished under the law of the land rather than by the whim of the ruling Monarch. The Magna Carta did have amendments made to it over the years although some parts of this document are still in use under modern British law.
